In 2011, Deacon Technologies set out to revolutionize how doctors, nurses and therapists admitted and screened new patients in medical facilities. They enlisted Myplanet to design and implement a tablet-based solution focused on ease of use and efficiency.

When a small team of doctors and technology specialists got together to look at how patient care could be improved at a US health care facility, they quickly realized that mobile technology was an integral part of what was needed.
Medical staff, including doctors, therapists and nurses all spent a great deal of time on tasks such as admitting patients, describing primary treatment plans and tracking progress of the plans. Deacon Technologies envisioned a tablet-based application that would speed up these processes, while providing better long-term record management by storing data electronically, instead of on paper.
Myplanet was contracted to design and build the application, given a unique set of user requirements and constraints. As with any medical application, adherence to HIPPA data privacy regulations was paramount in both the front and back-end designs.
The iPad was chosen as the device of choice and the solution was built on the Symfony platform – a high performance PHP framework that provided the right features and security for the application.
Currently in live field testing, the application is helping to speed up patient admittance times while ensuring that patient records are secure.
The ability to track patient progress over time is giving primary healthcare providers a new way to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and improve the lives of their patients.

Myplanet is proud to have played a role in building this tool and continues to work with Deacon as they move this technology forward.
